Refugees and Peacekeepers – A Patrician Press Anthology is the result of a writing competition held in 2106.

At this event Patricia Borlenghi will introduce readings by two of the prize-winners Penny Simpson and Kathy Stevens, and others.  In association with the Centre for Creative Writing at the University of Essex and the Wivenhoe Bookshop.

The anthology also includes new works by Patrician Press authors as well as contributions by journalist, Wersha Bharadwa, and jazz musician, Ian Shaw. (The forward includes a quote by poet, George Szirtes.)

Penny Simpson was the winner of the Patrician Press writing competition. She is a novelist and short story writer. She is currently recipient of an AHRC/CHASE postgraduate studentship in Creative Writing at the University of Essex. Her current research draws on her background as a journalist, working with organisations such as the BBC and British Council, and her original training in fine art at Brighton Art College. Her publications include two novels and a collection of short stories.
