‘Threads – Adventures with my Sewing Machine’

Melanie Whitehead is our March Artist of the Month and will be exhibiting a series of locally inspired images created using freehand embroidery.

Melanie talks about her work:

‘I love to explore new techniques and experiment with different materials in my work. My new machine has a ‘walking foot’ which enables me to use it like a pen and ‘draw’ on the fabric with thread. I also incorporate a variety of fabric scraps and vintage finds from my granny’s sewing box – this perfectly combines my passion for drawing with an evolving love of craft.’
