About the Artist

Sarah Lynn Mayhew is a multidisciplinary visual artist. Born in London, cultivated in Manchester, now residing near her home town in the countryside of North East Essex.

Her focus is rooted in environmental conservation and spiritual enlightenment of the human psyche. Creating surreal worlds where Tree Deities, Gods, and meticulously painted portraits of imaginary and real characters, evoke warrior-like strength and power through diversity. Elements of humour and play are sometimes employed enticing viewer interaction.

Her work promotes altruism, unification, and balance between light and dark. A mastery in traditional detail with graphite, oils, and inks, contrasts with spontaneous texture using mixed media layering with acrylics, pens, and spray. Fusing planned composition and instinctive expression. Strong vibrant palettes, fluid lines, bring rich definition and a stunning beauty to her work.

She says:

“Art is an energy source for both creator and viewer, inspiring different ways in which to interpret and reflect upon life”

Sarah’s skill set has derived from various art related work; from painter and decorator to web graphics, illustration, educational animation, scenic artist for theater (Colchester Mercury Theatre 98′ – 01′).

She lectured at Manchester Metropolitan University and Bolton Institute, has a degree in Educational media design (BA hons) and a Royal Society of Arts Award in Design technology & Multimedia, is a commissioned portrait artist and muralist. She has exhibited nationally since 2000.
