February 2012 – Annie Bielecka

February sees a welcome return to the gallery by textile artist Annie Bielecka, whose work ‘The Timelessness of Landscape’ will be on show throughout February.

There are many facets to Annie’s decorative textiles and embroidery – they are dramatic and dreamlike, and the seas and landscapes cross the boundaries between fine and applied art.

She uses notoriously difficult fabrics to work with in strong and intricate colours; silks, satins, and those with metallic fibres animate the surface with shimmering light. The blended expanses of colour,  contrasting tones, textures and raw edges give the work a richness, depth and vitality which convey her enthusiasm for the spirit of place, and capture the viewer’s imagination.

Her delicate designs are carefully crafted, and this remains a constant throughout her work.

Annie’s work will be on show  throughout February – do come and take a look.
