For January we’re showing lino prints by artist Simon Peecock.

Simon produces lino prints from a small studio space at his home in Brightlingsea.

He is inspired by the world around him, particularly the local environment in Northeast Essex, his family and the natural world. For his colour prints he uses a process known as the reduction technique, which means that a single piece of lino is used to create the print. The lino is then carved away for each colour layer, which means that only a limited number of finished prints can be made.

Simon’s prints have been used as book illustrations by Brightlingsea author Jan Williams, and he is involved with a local community arts project, ‘Cobnuts’.
