About the Book

The poems by Stuart Laycock in Zone sympathetically visit and revisit Bosnia-Herzegovina in the 1990’s, moving between places of safety and the theatre of war, recording ironies, tragedies and situational emotions. Witnessing and experiencing shocks to the fabric of the lives of people young and old during a conflict in which humanity was painfully lost, the poet recalls the burnt and bullet-holed emblems of life.

There are sardonic and humorous observations, there is anger and disbelief, as human feeling is celebrated, destruction documented and deaths mourned in these compassionate, perceptive writings.

The book also contains photos which are stills from video film taken by the author.

The 20th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Accords is being celebrated 18-21 November 2015.
